Students & NSS Activities

Mr. Revanth, CRRI of MGPGI, received the cash prize and certificate for winner from the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Puducherry at the state legislative assembly on 10/01/2021. He was awarded the 5th place in the State Level Quiz Competition on HIV/AIDS, TB and COVID-19 pandemic awareness organized by Pondicherry AIDS Control society. The BDS students have participated in the Paper presentation, Poster presentation, Symposium and Quiz program in the National UG Seminar on Oral Medicine & Radiology organized by Indian Academy of Oral Medicine & Radiology held at Sri Ramachandra Dental College and Hospital, Porur, Chennai. Best Paper prize awarded to the Interns Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim, Ms. Ayesha and III BDS Mr. Abishek Ghosh ; Best Poster prize awarded to the Interns Ms. Miliya and Ms. Parameshwari ; Best Symposium prize awarded to the III BDS Ms. Soundarya, Ms. Sunantha, Ms. Keerthana and Ms. Gayathri. The students organized the Teacher’s Day Programme.
N.S.S. Activities.

1) The NSS, MGPGI Unit conducted a Blood Donation Camp along with Department of Transfusion Medicine, JIPMER at the MGPGI Premises. There was an overwhelming turn out of volunteers for the camp from the students, teaching and non-teaching faculty of the institution. All volunteers were screened and eligible volunteers donated blood. A total of 66 units of blood from the volunteers were collected.

2) The MGPGI Unit of NSS had undertaken Tree Plantation in the Institution premises. A total of 45 tree saplings have been planted at different locations on campus

3) N.S.S. Unit of MGPGI along with JIPMER Blood Bank has organized a Blood Donation Camp.More than 25 volunteers (Teaching & Non Teaching Staff & Students) have donated their blood.

4) The volunteers of N.S.S. Unit of this institution have actively participated in 34 dental camps and 3 special dental camps organized by Department of Community Dentistry.

5) The N.S.S. Unit of MGPGI conducted an Intercollegiate Quiz Competition in connection with International Literacy Day.

16 teams from NSS allied colleges participated in the programme. A preliminary written round was conducted; of which six teams were selected for the main quiz. The quiz was conducted by Dr. Debdatta Basu, Professor of Pathology, JIPMER. The quiz covered topics on History, current affairs, sports, trivia etc.

The winners were Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary Sciences (I Place), Mahatma Gandhi PG Institute of Dental Sciences (II Place) and Bharathidasan College for Women (III Place). Tropies & Certificates were given to the winners. Participants were given participation certificates. The programme ended with vote of thanks.

Prizes and Awards

Prizes and awards have not been constituted, since, the Institute Day was not celebrated due to Assembly Election and also paucity of funds.

Admission

B.D.S. Course: 125 Students are admitted from this year to the B.D.S. course, of which 51 are from the Union Territory of Puducherry. The admissions to these seats are made on UG NEET merit basis by the CENTAC, Pondicherry.
M.D.S. Course : 19 Students are admitted from this year to M.D.S. courses, of which 50% seats from the UT of Puducherry. The admission to these seats are made on NEET-MDS merit basis by the CENTAC, Pondicherry.
