MGPGI - COVID 19 SCREENING CAMPS
A] BORDER SCREENING DUTY
A total of 91 individuals(37
postgraduates 32 interns and 22 attenders) performing the border
screening duty, at JIPMER arch, Gorimedu, round the clock in 3
shifts from 18th March 2020 to 11th June 2020.

B] QUARANTINE
FACILITY FOR HEALTH WORKERS FROM COVID WARDS
From 11/04/2020 till 24/05/2020, the
Faculty quarters of MGPGI was repurposed as a quarantine facility for
the consultants, post graduates, interns, staff nurses and health care
workers associated with IGMC&RI, Puducherry, a dedicated Covid hospital.
23 rooms were made ready with all the necessary requirements. |
C] COVID CARE CENTRE
Due to rising Covid cases the medical
and surgical wards of MGPGI, Puducherry, were converted into a
full-fledged Covid Care Centre, for isolation and monitoring of
asymptomatic Corona positive patients from 25/06/2020 till 26/10/2020.
The two wards, in the ground and first floors, accommodate up to 40
patients, with 20 beds in each floor.
The vitals were monitored for every
patient (Spo2%, PR, Temperature). Patients were under observation for 24
hours a day for any development of symptoms and managed accordingly by
our Dental Doctors with Medical persons on call duty. A total of 476
patients were admitted, monitored and discharged after ten days
according to the ICMR directives. |
D] RT-PCR TESTING
CENTRE
MGPGI is an
authorised RT-PCR sample collection centre form 09/09/2020.
RT-PCR samples are being collected form the general populace in
camps. Samples are collected from patients coming to the OPD for
dental procedures or for Covid testing alone. Till date
(09/11/2020) 1490 samples have been collected and sent to JIPMER
for testing. |
E] RAPID ANTIGEN TEST CAMPS

A team of 32 persons, comprising
of doctors, PGs, Interns and HCWs are conducting surveillance
testing for Covid, using Rapid Antigen Tests from 10.09.2020
till date (09.11.2020). So far up to 16,222 individuals have
been tested in these camps.

F] OUT PATIENT
TREATMENT
From the beginning of
the Covid pandemic till date, the OPD has been functioning with
all due precautions according to ICMR guidelines. The screening,
triaging and subsequent dental treatment and procedures are
being carried out with absolute care and personnel protection in
mind. |
