            The Department of Microbiology has been carrying out regular diagnostic test such as Culture and Sensitivity, Serological tests like HBsAg, HIV, ASO, CRP, RE Factor, VDRLetc, Stool examination, Grams staining and Acid fast staining for the benefit for the patients attending the hospital.

            Dr. Jayaram, Professor & Head has been guiding MDS students for the Dissertation works. Dr. Karthikeyan, MDS and Dr. Mithunjith, MDS of Dept. of Conservative Dentistry did their dissertation in this department.

            Mrs. Priya Meenakshi did her M.Phil dissertation and submitted it to Periyar University, Salem. The work was carried out entirely in this department.

            Mr. Bahavath Singh, M.Sc. student from Periyar University has done his dissertation work in this department.

            Dr. S. Jayaram, Professor & Head is the Editor in "Journal of Biomedicine" - published by the Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists.

            Prof. Dr. S. Jayaram, Professor & Head received "V.V. Swaminathan Golden Jubilee Research Endowment Award" in the 34th Annual Conference of Indian Associate of Biomedical Scientists, at Dr. ALM Post Graduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chennai-600 113.

The staff and students of this Institution are encouraged to participate in National Conferences and International Conferences. In this year, totally, 37 members attended the National Conferences, Seminars and Symposiums. Out of this, 56 papers were presented at National level from this Institution and 9 papers were adjudged as Best Papers at National level and were awarded.

             At present, 25 Scientific Projects are underway at various stages. 12 papers were published in various National and International Journals in this academic year.
